RADIO UPGRADE

Featured Replies

hi can anybody tell me if I can change my radio in my 63 plate rapid se 1.2 tsi to an upgraded one without going to skoda for one and paying the earth thanks Andy

I have a DNX521DAB in my 63 plate, although it was fitted by the dealership when I got the car. The units are available for cheaper from www.idealo.co.uk £533.71 with free shipping.

You can pick up the factory 'Amundsen' head units of eBay pretty cheap. These have sat nav with a colour touchscreen and SD card reader. For example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251425985486

Don't you need to do some creative wiring so that the gps antenna has a chance of picking up a signal if you retrofit one?

How are you finding it? I'd like to do the same upgrade at some point.

Also the unit on eBay for £533.71 is not the official unit, they've use the model number in their listing. I haven't seen a new one come lower than £800 yet.

Hi whoop_whoop,

The unit is great just the DAB is a bit hit and miss but I'll put that down to this lovely weather at the min. Had no other issues with it although I'm sure there are other's out there that will be just as good and half the price.

I didn't check the unit on eBay, just had a quick search... That will teach me

Varies but I've never tried in a Rapid. Some cars have a cavity above the air vents or speedometer where you can locate the antenna, otherwise it can be a bit tricky.
