Replacing Warning Buzzer OPS PDC Alarm Front

Featured Replies

I've had problems with my parking sensors (front & rear).  I did the click test and replaced the two inner sensors on the front however to no avail.

So I had a VAG scan which also said the parking buzzer ( pictured above) had also failed.  I've bought one off ebay and located it behind the b pillar on the passenger side, however, it seems to be held in place by two plastic pop rivets.  Is there any way of removing them without damaging completely or will I have to snap them off.  See below.

The centre pulls out and then they just come out easily. Try a pair of long nose pliers after working the centre slightly free with a very small jeweller's screwdriver.

However, note if your car is a facelift that is the buzzer for the rear sensors. If it is a pre facelift, it is the same for both so you will be ok.

push the centre in by a few mill and the rivet should loosen allowing you to remove it in one peice

Duplicate sorry!

That is useful to know for future reference as I have had trouble with the method I described!!

Bingo!  Cheers for that. Now have fully working parking sensors for the grand total of £35.  (2 sensors = £25 & buzzer £10)  Dread to think what the dealer would have charged.

The only problem was that in my haste I pushed the pins through and dropped them into the bodywork.  Does anyone know the exact names of the rivets so I can buy a couple.

Push / Drive / Press rivets / pins etc.

Like these on eBay.

IIRC it was an 8mm pin to fit the hole in the buzzer and body work that was needed.

I have some spare in the garage from when I fitted my front buzzer and dropped the original two down in the depths of the vehicle (recovered one, the other vanished).

Good result well done

Aye, thats the fellas. I'll get a bag of them.

Thats very kind of you, but I've ordered some already off eBay.  If they're not the right ones I might give you a shout.  Thanks

No problem.

I had to order a couple of sizes before I got the right ones.

The pack I linked to has a variety of sizes in it, so you should find the right ones in there.

Hello Adam,

My car is a RHD Skoda Octavia L+K Estate Mark2 facelift, 59-reg (September 2009), with rear PDC only (no front).

Where do you suggest that the buzzer is?
In the left-hand side/front passenger B-pillar, behind their seatbelt lower (black) plastic shroud?

Thanks in advance.

Wayne
