Fabia Vrs Buying Advice

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first Skoda, a Fabia Vrs and I hoped that I could get some advice from you. I test drove one this weekend which I liked and sounded liked a good deal from a franchised dealer, but I noticed that there was some water on the floor behind the drivers seat. I've no idea why I didn't think to say anything at the time, but I didn't. So I plan to phone the dealership tomorrow and discuss. From what I've googled the Fabia has a common door seal problem(does it on the Mk2 version?), which I'm guessing may be the problem here.....The car is only 18months old.

Do you think I should steer clear and find another car to buy?

Any advice would be welcome :)

Thanks.

How much water are we talking about mate? Was the carpet soaked? I think the mk1s had a door seal issue but not heard about mk2s being affected really.

Personally I'd give that car a miss as there are plenty others out there to choose from.

Welcome to the forum.

The rear window only needs to be open 1 mm within the seal and water gets in.

Dealership cars are washed often and can cause the wet rear, there can be more to it, but not common on the mk2.

If the glass is down that little bit you might not notice, but you see the h20 on the top of the glass.

That with manual rear winders.

They just work there way down sometimes.

I will try and find an old thread where all the answers are about buying a used vRS. Same questions were asked.

Thanks for replying! Furbytom, the floor didn't look completely soaked, but it was enough to notice. The pattern of water looked as though it could have trickled from somewhere.

Thanks sk4gw I appreciate that :-)

Sorry i am not finding the particular thread.

In that one luckily the Prospective Buyer checked with Skoda UK to see if the car being offered had any issues, and it had.

They found a better and cheaper vRS and bought that one.

Best read back a few weeks or months of posts in this section and get the idea.

There are lots of good cars out there, but also a few Lemons.

Maybe post up the Registration Number and somone might know the car.

Or just the Colour, wheels & which Dealer?group it is at, i someone might recognise the car.

Lots of bargains to be had around the UK on used vRS, some nicely specced ones.

just do not pay too much at the Skoda Dealership.

I can't find the thread but appreciate the advice guys. As you say there are plenty out there to choose from.

no door seal issues on the mark II, but like George said, look at the windows, I find the manual winders on the rear doors can let the windows drop slightly over time, if not checked to see they are fully shut from time to time (a few months ect)

Agreed with Shark, they do that and I tend to check mine every few weeks
