just seen it

He's got a 36 touring in the members rides section. Not been updated in a while tho

I'll text him and tell him to pull his finger out :D

Hold on... I'm doing it...

A few things to consider...

- M50 makes a massive difference, even more so when mapped.

- If you need to change clutch, swap the dual mass fly for a solid one. I went from 21kg dual mass to 7.8kg solid. The difference is... marked!

- They do sound incredible, even more so with a ballistic exhaust attached.

- Check the rear arches religiously, they're the first thing to go rusty and they go very quickly.

- Welded diff can be a right pain in the arse for daily driving... but if it works for you...

- Have you got your oil temp wired in? If so, how?

lol :giggle: :giggle:

m50 and mapped are in the post been waiting ages lol

which clutch? anylinks i might just do it for the saving! but clutch hasnt been done long from the receipts i have

lol i have ebay manifolds decat and mid box with a scorpion back box, havent started the car yet so cant comment but reckon it will make some noise :giggle:

yea one arch has just started, they are getting flared so will sort paint after that!

im not jumping in head first i know of couple guys with welders, tried them cars and very drivable indeed! plus i spend most of the time trying to skid anyway,my compact is rarely straight :giggle:

no it doesnt work the guy before me fitted that cluster,i will  more than likely go back to the mpg speedo,i cant see it being to hard just fit a sender and find out where to run it. i have some gauges to fit other wise i would of looked into it

You'll see around 220-230bhp from just the M50 plus a decent map. Everything else falls into place after that. I made my 233bhp with DaveF air filter, M50 intake, decat system and lightened flywheel. 40bhp increase from 4 simple bolt-ons- what an engine!

Valeo do a kit for the early E36 325i (1991 or so)- which was a solid flywheel! That was what I got, then it was machined down and balanced with the clutch plate.

That should sound awesome- sound clips necessary!

Flared arches will look great. I'd love the AC Schnitzer CLS kit, but it's hella expensive and not ready for the awesomeness of a Touring (they only do it for the coupé/cab bodystyle  :@ )

Fair enough- as long as you're happy. It will eat tyres, I'd recommend your own tyre machine and balancer.  :giggle:

OK, apparently it's one wire going to the plug which BMW sell that plugs directly into the sump. Could be worth a look..! If you need some original clocks then let me know.

sounds like it should be good then, hopefully i can get used to less power 230 still isint much :giggle: :giggle: still sideways makes up for it i guess. what the hell is a dave f filter :giggle:

ok did you fit it? where did you buy it from?

hope so i bought the scorpion new which cleaned me out :giggle:

again hope so lol never had it done before, havent seen those lol

lol nah ive got tons of spare alloys with tyres to eat

yeah cant see it being to much, have you got m3 clocks?? thanks for the offer pal,the car did come with the original clocks though

230 is plenty in these- they're not all about massive power, the chassis is incredible for such an old design. There's a reason loads of people who live in Nurburg use them on that track. :)

DaveF is the enclosed filter... you've got a similar setup already.

I did not fit it, but it's basically a load of E12 bolts (same as diff). With a regular socket set, an E12 socket and a decent Torx kit you can pretty much strip an E36!

I've gone for AC Schnitzer carbon fibre M3 clocks. They'll be with me soon!

just used to more thats all lol but is epic to drive, havent driven it really yet,but the 316 is fun to drive so this should be good.

ah ok i saw it in your thread now lol

yea should be to hard im just lazy now,and the weather is interesting lately

oooo sound pricey

Just enjoy the balance. They're 50/50 weight distribution (although you've buggered that up removing the rear seats :p ), and incredibly stiff out of the factory. Poly all the bushes, upgrade the anti-roll bars and enjoy the poised nature!

Ideally you'll want a garage for it, it's a long old job. :(

Not as pricey as they should have been, bargain hunter supreme here... :D

haha i only got it to drift so im sure it will be fun lol

well the exhaust is off diff will be out soon,so shouldnt be to hard, must be easier than the octy as its mounted correctly :giggle:

epic lol

I think I'm one of about 5 E36 owners in the UK who bought it for handling capabilities and to turn it into a firebreathing monster on track. :p

Yes- everything is basically Meccano on these cars, they are so easy to work on. Gearbox is very easily accessible once you're underneath!

I don't like paying much for my bits. Car was £750, various bits to tune it have cost around £1,250... maybe less, maybe more... it's a quick, fun car for not much outlay!

  • Author

5? reckon that guess is abit high lol

yeah depends also if i can find it for the right money.

really!!!!!! i paid your total just for the car lol the wheels alone with flaring is costing 850! exhaust is nearly 600!! diff coils other bits over a grand. so must be getting close 4k total lol

You could be right, I could be entirely alone! :(

They ain't cheap. You can make the M20 straight six flywheel fit, but needs the M20 starter motor. The M20 was the old 12-valve six fitted to the E30s/E28s.

I like to do things on a budget. ;) I'll do a total list at some point, but it really isn't much at all. Most expensive part I've bought was the Hartge wheels, which were £360. After that, it was the clutch/flywheel at £330... the rest of it all came under that!

ive seen one other person so 2 lol

nah that sounds like a ballache lol grrrrr more than i wanna pay right now lol

maybe if i get good money for the alpinas ill get one lol

got the arse had a hammer handy

M20 flywheel and starter are the way to go. Much cheaper than having an M50 dual mass machined down. I expect you have but hopefully you've got the throttle body with your 325 inlet otherwise it's useless. You'll also want to look at your PCV pipes when you're in there as they can suck a lot of low end out of it.
