Front Caliper Sliding Pin Thread Size & Pitch - 256*mm Disc

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew the front caliper sliding pin thread size and pitch for a 1.2 12v? Essentially I went to change the brake pads and I noticed the thread was ruined on the lower section. I tried measuring it up and I'm pretty sure it's Imperial and not Metric, close to an M8x1.5.

Now I'm currently driving a Polo 2002 onwards which is the same as the Fabia Mk1 1999 onwards so I hope they are the same. I would try the Polo forum but everything there are for rust mobiles pre 2000.

Thanks in advance for your help. My last resort is to find a scrappy.

PS I'm wondering whether if this should be in the tech section, admins please move if necessary.

I've found my answer, 9 x 1.25mm helicoil kit. Sorted. This is probably useful for anyone else as it saves changing the whole hub.

Hi. Mine is a fabia 1.4 mpi, the pins are M9 x 1.25.

I used yhis kit from Ebay - 290771463665 - rather than the helicoil kit, a little safer in my opinion. Go to the tool website and download the instruction, also use thread lock.

I did order a new slide pin set from vwspares.co.uk

I had to file down an old slide pin a little to get the metal bar to fit properly.

Was all done quickly and with very little hassle.

Take your time and good luck

Hi Matthew,

Just seen your reply, I managed to sort it with the helicoil kit, took a few go's to thread it in successfully and now it's nice and tight. Identical pins so I guess you have the FS-III brakes too...

Looks like another good alternative, thanks for the link! I'll bear this product in mind if I need one.

Cheers.

Nick.
