Fabia 1.4 16v difficult to start

Featured Replies

help !

I drove My 2002. 1.4 16v Fabia into the driveway and left it for a week and now it will not start unless you hold the key for a good while and then it runs badly at about 600 revs and will not rev any higher.

I've checked and the fuel rail is pressurised. I'm Thinking coil pack, or plugs  but I can't test it right now as I don't have a spark plug tool for this car but does anyone have any other ideas?

Also it only runs for about 20 secs and then stalls.

Is the battery fully charged? If not, take it indoors and charge it fully, this will also reset the ECU to base settings, the car may start and run better.

While checking the plugs and coils I noticed that the throttle body did not move at all when starting the car. I removed it and cleaned it along with the throttle position sensor. After this the car started and ran fine. I'm fairly sure that the problem was with the position sensor so I've ordered a new one as I think cleaning it is only a temporary measure.
