vrs MAF issues..

Featured Replies

My octy is stage2'd with FMIC, a few days ago a pipe had popped off under boost so I was running with the MAF unplugged for a few days. I reconnected the intercooler pipe today and plugged the MAF back on. Error codes came up and the car weren't boosting past .5bar. The codes were MAF and bank1 too lean, I'm guessing my MAF is goosed, but I'm wondering is it just coincidence or is it because I ran the car with it unplugged for a few days??

MAF don't normally come up as a fault code.. :wonder:  well it don't on mine it just sets the traction control light off.. I've got a diagnostic machine can try a just erase the codes for you if you like..?

Oh and im still having the breather pipes of you lol just haven't had a chance to collect them as im working during the week. lol

Lol thanks but I've cleared the codes, and the car still ran the same, ie no more than 0.5bar boost. I've now unplugged it and its driving a lot better, so I'll be driving it with it unplugged til I order a maf from Skoda :-( Oh great, I'll keep the breather pipes for you, just let me know when you want them :-)

do they loose any power when the MAF is unplugged..? and whats the diff in buying a fake ebay special MAF to buying a genuine Skoda part..?

Life span is the main factor I believe.

Running unplugged will run with default values not live data being fed back to ecu from the MAF.

If you unplug the maf, ecu falls back on different set of maps. Assuming these have not been altered by a remap.

Too lean means not enough fuel or too much air so not necessarily maf. But from the sounds of it you have unmetered air issue. So:

1. Check your piping and hoses

2. I have a working maf from my vrs, which I no longer need as running 3inch maf. Pm me if interested
