Any bubbly rust forming on Fabia yet?

Featured Replies

Sure I read on a for sale thread that rust was starting to bubble through on a rear wheel arch.

Not talking surface rust here, so need to get busy underneath/panels etc.with Waxoil to stop this before it starts.

It might not be rust on the surface of the paint, but it is on the surface of the metal, exterior and possibly interior and hidden and where panels join.

Where Dirt, moisture and corrosion have been doing what they do.

(& often there will be holes in the Exterior Paint and that is the way the moisture accessing the panel,

and it might not be starting to rot.)

Considering the cars are at least 7 years old, that would have been needing doing some time ago.if it was to be a preventative measure.

So if moisture is in and corrosion has started, bubbles might be appearing sometimes in the future.

That needs the corroding metal removed, and the new metal replacing it sealed and Rust Inhibitor treating anything with corrosion forming. Sealing in Rust or H20 does not work.

But getting old mud and dirt out and doing something is well worth it,

but as many often find, sometimes it is worth letting Sleeping Dogs Lie.

Things can be well sealed now, and H20 and Air have been kept away from the metal, or maybe just kept the rust hidden.

It maybe got all that treatment when first bought and its worked.

Done its job over at least 6 years and winters.

Yup. I'm currently sat in a 04plate fabia that's got rusty back arches

54 plate with bubbles starting to show on the boot lid by the reg plate. I've got until September to get it sorted under warranty.

07 plate with rust where the number plate lights are!
