Fitted new suspension today...question!

Featured Replies

Had my AP Springs and Shocks fitted today.

Really impressed, but just a quick question!

I looked at all my parts and found two small plastic caps which my mechanic said are from the rear shocks as they didn't fit on the new shocks.

Does anyone know if these are needed ?!

Thanks!

Got a photo?

If its what I think there for the top of the mount to keep dirt off the threads?

If so not essential but would be nice on. Prob forgot to put them back as they clip into the mount not on to the shock

I'll get a picture tomorrow for you as not home at the moment.

If it's the part you think it is, can you add that on without disassembling the whole strut?

This is what they are. Any ideas?

They're just dust caps as said, i never had mine refitted, and havent had any problems so far.

They should just clip into the top of the rear top mount bracket.  It stops dust and moisture siezing the nut on the top of the damper.

I'd be surprised if they didn't fit the new tops as well as you'd be using the same bracket as before.

Chuck em in the bin.

Sluvenly workman ship imo

Pita to put back on tho

Jack car up

Arch liners out

2 x 16mm bolts and lower strut bolt out

Lots of work for them.

As said they just clip into the top mount not the strut so were blatantly forgotten.

Left them off on mine too, not that important
