For once this is not my car, but a 2005 vrs. Aparently he was fitting a new stereo and pulled fuses out with the ignition on.oopps well now when he starts it the glow plug light is flashing, airbag light and exhaust system light is on. It does not go into limp mode and unfortunately no access to a vag com at this time. Any ideas??

And has he checked all the fuses?

 

Just try disconnecting the battery for an hour and see if it resets a few faults.  VCDS would be the handiest route to sort this, otherwise it's mostly guesswork.

 

Check the brake lights, and other obvious stuff.
