Traces of oil in my intercooler

Featured Replies

Boost pipe keeps popping of the bottom of my I intercooler on my 2005 Fabia VSR after looking it also has traces of oil, is his normal for traces of oil to be on the intercooler?

Just a little worried as I took it to the garage to get a new boost pop fitted and they said most lolly course for the oil is my turbo and may need replacing.

Its fine

It comes from the crank case vent into the air intake.

Too much oil (pools of it) would show oil seal gone in turbo but thats not your issues if its only slight

Thanks big j it is only a small trace as stated, but the garage seem to be making a big issue out of it, noticed it a few months ago when servicing the car thought it was the seal on the boost pipe do ordered a new one and fitted it at the weekend that's when the boost pipe kept popping off.

As previously mentioned it's most likely the engine breather recycling the oil vapours, work backwards to your airbox, follow the oil trail so to speak.

You'll know if you've turbo oil seal issues, the plume of blue/white smoke behind you on acceleration is the clue.

I can guarantee every single fabia vrs has oil in the intercooler pipework

Your garage seem to be looking for work to do!

There is nothing at all to worry about.

Maybe your garage don't have a clue? I remember i had to explain to my local mot garage what a single mass flywheel was. It doesnt bode too well really :o

Oh and to fix your blowing off pipe

Take the intercooler off and get the self tapper out!
