Strange led number plate light problem

Hi guys,

I know there's multiple threads here on the topic but this one's a little strange, I've a pre FL Octy 2008 registration and I just installed allegedly canbus friendly led number plate lights, surprise surprise they don't work but there's no dash warning light! I'm a little confused, anyone shed any light (pardon the pun) on this!? Cheers
