3ZERO GPS & Radar/Laser Detector

Featured Replies

Thought I would share my purchase and install with other Forum members

Having used a very good GPS Camera Unit (Talex Alpha) for a number of years, I thought it was about time to invest in one that also picks up Laser and live camera beams..as well as GPS locations...I was caught out in November last year!!

After some discussion with others in another Forum, I settled on this:

http://shop.snooperdirect.com/product1400186.html

Question:

1. Has anyone else got one?

2. Can you share settings with me?

3. How did/where did you mount it?

Thanks in anticipation

Chris

I've had a snooper for many years so it's obviously the older version of what you have but it works and has saved my bacon my times.

I mount it directly in front of the driver at the lowest point on windscreen with the suction cup mounting system.I never remove it and it has been totally reliable. Thought the sun might kill it in the summer but no it still works perfectly.

Think i have it set on logic 1.

Oh make sure you take it off if going to Europe as they don't take kindly to them.

Thanks a lot

I'll look at 'Logic 1'

I think in most cases by the time the snooper tells you "Laser" you have been had anyway.

My experience with those type of detectors is that a lot of pedestrian crossing sets it off because they use a radar range finder on some.

It can be turned off (x band)...I just have to find out how

You do get false signals from various sources but you learn to read between the lines and this learning grows with experience.

I had a lasers lock onto me and have had time to check / reduce speed without the sp30/60.

Ive discovered that x and k band signals predominantly come from traffic lights, pelican crossings and Speed warning boards...so turning that function off has stopped the bleeps

Thanks for you help

Let us know how you get on with it

:hi: By the way the military tech detector is the stinger dsi which looks good and costs about £1400 in uk and i think you can add to it all around protection which would be fitted outside car, another which is good is the valentine one but im happy with my new snooper as its affordable and will tell me speed limits in areas im in,i will let you know when i get it set up in the car any tips on best position i was thinking low down bottom middle windsceen.

Mine is there with the windscreen mount.... but had to wedge my sunglasses case under it to stop the wobbling, which is excessive

I suggest the dash mount would be better if you can get a decent position so that it can see through the screen

I'm limited to the dash box lid on the Octavia as an alternative to where it is at the moment

Link?

Google news is only giving me US links.

Iirc it's part of the Road safety act which comes into force.

Might have been in one of the motorway camera links.

  • Author

When you find it ..let me know

Thanks

It's already covered by the act so any officer could technically act on it.

The article I recall also mentioned about the use of illegal and prescription drugs coming into full force at the same time.

What Act?

Road Safety act 2006, 2013 ammendments.

From Google seems to be section 18 that covers it.

Q:   Are Snoopers Legal?

A:  Yes, radar detectors have been legal in the UK since Jan 98 when a motorist challenged a conviction in the court for using one and won. However they are not legal in all countries, they are illegal in France for example.

I heard the rumour about these things being made illegal years ago and i'm still happily running one with no problems from my local police.

I think they're a positive safety benefit to driving as they warn you of danger areas so you reduce/check speed. The police only set up speed traps in accident black spots to reduce accidents and not to top up their finances.  :giggle:
