Flickering Oil Light

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently purchased a 2003 1.2 (12 valve) Fabia Comfort Estate and on the whole I have been very pleased with it so far. Once not long after I got it the oil light was very dim and flickering (comes on full brightness with the engine off), however switching the car off and back on was enough to clear it so I gave it no more thought. However the last two times I have used the car the light has been dim and flickering and it doesn't obviously want to clear.

I am hopeful that there is just a bad connections somewhere since the light is dim and flickering rather than properly on, and the car has only done 70000 miles so I wouldn't of thought there should be any major issues yet.

If someone could tell me where the oil pressure sensor is I would imagine checking the connections on this would be a good place to start. However if anyone has any other advice or experience regarding the likely cause of this any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Benjamin

Just to the right of the exhaust manifold (as you look at the front of the engine from in front of the car). Single wire connector onto a green-bodied sensor.

Unplug the loom connector and check for oil having come out from the sensor, around the connecting pin, which generally indicates internal failure.

check the oil m8 mine done that after an oil change turned out it was low and flickering round the corners

Thanks for the replies. I've got some free time tomorrow afternoon so I'll have a look then and see if there's any oil coming out around the sensor and check the connection. Thanks for saying about checking the oil level however it is just under the maximum mark so I doubt it's that.
