VRS First Oil Top-up - Yellow Light

Featured Replies

'Yellow' Oil light came on this afternoon, its rather large so you cant miss it

7704 KM therefore about 4,800 miles

Topped up with 5W-30 (just under 1ltr), due its first service next month.

Is this amount of oil usage normal? from what others have posted it seems ok but your thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, but don't wait for the light to come. Check on a regular basis.

what he said ^^^^^^ and yes, thats normal oil use without any real issues :) mine uses about a litre every 6,000 miles.

:whew:  thats good to know.

Thanks for comfirming, I will keep checking the levels

Has it been checked recently or in the past 4,800 miles??

Before the Light comes on, it can or may on some cars take 1.2 litres to top up, or even more.

Almost not showing on the Dip Stick any oil.

??

So are you sure you have enough oil in the engine now.  that should be 3.6 litres?

Do not run it short by around 0.5 litres.

Do you have the Oil when checked with a hot dip at the top 1/3 of the Crossshatch Area,

'Area A', in the Owners Handbook Diagram.

If the car is sitting on the flat and the engine stone cold and the oil stone cold is the Oil up above the Crosshatch area.

(that should have enough oil in it.)

The Owners Manual tells you the Engine may use more oil in the first 5000 km,

and advises how often to check.

I know that is for every Engine, but it is advice worth following with a vRS.
