Window washer bottle

Featured Replies

Okay...so I've fixed the rear window heating element problem, I've got a brake light bulb to replace and a slightly temperamental seatbelt warning pinging thing going on but I need advice on a couple of other things now -

When fixing the snapped wire to the rear window heater, I noted that there seemed to be a joint for the rear washer in with the twist of wires and its seeping water, not much but enough to make the inside of the rubber tubing a bit damp, which I wouldn't think is overly healthy with electrical wires....is there a quick fix for this?

Also, after filling the water washer bottle and since its the only thing I've had to fill since buying the car, I assume the small puddle gathering under where the washer bottle sits on the right hand side, is a leak in the washer bottle somewhere.  Is there an easy way to get at the washer bottle or will it require me removing my front bumper or some other major surgery?!

Thanks for all the help so far with the rear heating element!

I would hazard a guess that the washer bottle sits in the same place as the Mk1 fabia (Roomster to the B pillar is a mk1 Fabia with a skin job), in which case It will be a bumper off job to replace.

I would recommend switching it for a 5litre version 'whilst you're down there' I'll post up a link to my how to for the fabia as it may be helpful.

I suspect taking the bumper off maybe a little beyond my skill level, considering I know very little about cars.  I did read through the replacing the washer bottle for a 5 litre one but I'm not sure I fancy attempting it without guidance from someone a bit more experienced!

I think I might wrap PTFE tape round the rear washer tubing or squirt some silicone sealant on it to stop it from seeping.
