18" Neptune with tyre in boot well

Featured Replies

Evening all

Does anyone know if an 18" Neptune with tyre will fit in the boot well of a 2011 octavia Vrs?

I've possibly sourced a cheap second hand one but would like to know if its going to fit before I buy it!

Thanks in advance

Well it fits in the boot of my March 2012 hatch when fitted with a 225/40-18 tyre.  There is a photo somewhere on this forum of such a wheel/tyre combination in the wheel well.

Incidentally, the 205/55-16 spare wheel supplied to me by the Skoda dealer is the same diameter but obviously the 'face' of the tyre/wheel is 20mm lower when in the wheel well.

That makes sense regarding the 18" combo being the same size as the 16" combo ..... Ill do a search for the photo when I get onto my laptop.

Thanks very much

It fits but sticks up slightly.

Remove one of your own wheels and try it in there.
you will see exactly how it fits then.

It will fit with the exception of depth. It will sit higher than the space saver, leaving your boot floor carpet raised

Thanks for confirming that. I had been wondering about fitment of a full size alloy in the spare wheel well but suspected it would sit proud of the boot floor.

Sarge.

Probably work if you have variable boot floor as the fact its slightly too wide be accomodated by the false floor id expect.

if you really wanted it, there is nothing to stop you cutting some polystyrene or foam to surround the raised wheel creating a new false floor Id imagine.

Pipsyp, I do have variable boot floor and I think you're right. So long as one is not trying to cram the underfloor space with stuff, the raise in the boot floor carpet probably isn't an issue.

Sarge.

I have one in my hatch and it fits fine. It doesn't stick out the well and carpet fits flush. Odd scenario I have now is I have an18 inch alloy spare and 4 16inch alloys on the car for the winter ;)
