Coilpack question

Featured Replies

I've search for a few days but I can't find an answer to my specific question.I fitted a new dv and went for a quick run, much better as I expected as my old dv was torn. Two mins later and a coilpack dies in my eyes due to the better performance. Now my question is that after a few weeks the performance and more so the torque has gone again and gives fairly lumpy power delivery.I plugged in vcds and no faults showed but when I scanned for misfires it showed cylinder. 2 and 3 were missing ( couldn't feel it ) .Can a coil be bad without giving a permanent miss? Maybe limiting spark /power to preserve the coil via the ecu ?

Cheers

TFSI or TSI?

Sorry its a tfsi

Yes, replace all four.

Mine had a bad coil which would only miss when pulling hard through a gear from low revs. All other times it was fine, then it just failed completely but that was after about 3 months.
