The Clean up continues

Featured Replies

Weather's cheered up a bit so decided it was time to start cleaning things up further so started with the front arches and alloys. I always do this with new cars as it helps to spot any faults and obviously makes things look alot better:

One arch before

And an alloy part way through cleaning

Nice clean arch afterwards

Alloy as good as they'll get before I refurb them properly in a month or 2

While cleaning noticed that the pancake pipe bracket nut had gone the journey somewhere as well so quickly popped a new one on and the tiny knock I was hearing from the front end gone. Yes, I know the discs are bit thin, got new discs and pads going on front and rear. It's also pretty evident that someone tried to do some undersealing themselves without covering things off- black underseal all over the arch liners, inside of alloys and even the pancake pipe.

Now to decide on the new caliper colours- reckon it;s gonna have to be good old red.

FInally got round to popping on a project decal as well

Pop the front arch liner off and clean behind it, if you havent already. Looks like your wing is starting to rust. Its probably stacked high with mud behind the liner

Also nice work

The passenger side arch is a hell of a mess TBH and part of the reason I was cleaning so I could see it properly- not sure to repair or to replace but either way I need the weather to get a bit more stable (hard I know lol) before I do anything

Alloys look loads better. Need to do the arches on mine at some point, probably wait until the weather breaks a little. Keep up the good work!

Is the drivers side strut caked in **** or is it different to the other? Also whats with the brake callipers lol.

Good job tho.

Ger all the arch liners out. Once a year at least mate assaid. They fill with leaves and mud.

Aye, that drivers side was manky but a ton of cleaner is slowly broke down but there's still under seal spots that are proper pain to get off. As for the caliper- I'm pretty convinced now that there was a brake leak at some point on the driver side and the brake fluid stripped the caliper paint and also explains some of the marks on the inside of the alloys. Works fine, just no paint on it right now.

Aye, I do this sort of clean minimum once a year and it's incredible what you get gathered up behind the arches

The pancake pipe too should be bolted on, it hanging free :)

Well spotted though ;)

Duh, sorry.  Got to be Skoda Rally Green for the calipers.  Hard to find though,
