what do i do first?

Featured Replies

Hopefully washing the car tomorrow. I don't have access to a hosepipe so it's a 2 bucket method.

I have a quick question though:

I have been given a bottle of Autoglym bodywork gloss shield. (I have AG applied from new).

I was wondering do I apply this after washing and then the deep shine polish and then the aqua wax or do I gloss, wax and then polish.

I have never got the right order so any info would be nice. I'm not after a shiny car, just something that looks right.

I am a bit of an autoglym fan what you should do first is wash the car dry it with a micro fibre towel.

then use the polish I take it its srp autoglym u have buf it of I would do 2 coats of that.

then use your bodywork gloss to seal the polish in, if its aqua wax you have then I would not use that as you use it when the car is still wet. It would be a nightmare to use when the car is dry. Your gloss is a sealer so either seal or wax one or the other.

Then the next time you wash the car after you rinse it you can use the aqua wax to top up the protection.

what I do is I wash the car useing autoglym shampoo and conditioner then dry the car then I clay bar the car useing autoglym clay bar kit then I wash the car again. Dry the car then use autoglym srp polish buff it of then give it another coat just thin coats.

then I use autoglym hd wax . I do that twice a year the rest of the time I wash the car the use aqua wax to top up the protection.

I find my car beads water really well and it was a nice wet look shine to it the aqua wax is a good wax in its self. Hope the westher stays good for you.

I have the deep shine polish.

I was confused as on the back of the gloss it says remove all polishes etc....

So just to confirm it goes:

Proper wash & dry

Polish

Gloss

Stand back and admire work

I do have aqua wax but this was done before, but the car is filthy so wanting something to give it a good clean. Thanks for the advice.

Yip gloss to protect the polish

and worth ensuring car is well soaked first so not washing straight on to dried up muck. :)
