Octavia making whirring noise and kangarooing

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a Octavia 1.9tdi  52 plate 1u2 110bhp elegence model. Owned since Dec 2013.

I know the guy who had it before me and it has been sat on his drive for 18 months unused due to his ill health.

It also has full service history and has 85K on the clock. Next service is due at 89K.

I got it for free as it is a family friend and he said the clutch needed doing.

I got a new clutch and the cam belt & water pump done in January 2014 and my garage said a vacuum hose on the turbo had come off so that was put back on. I also changed the air filter.

All was fine until a week ago it started making a whirring noise and mildly kangarooing!!?? The whirring is in time with the mild kagarooing.

It only seems to do it about 5 mins after I first start driving in the morning and sometimes after work, every day and only does it in 2nd and 3rd gear when accelerating. It then clears up after doing it once or twice and then the car drives ok.

I also notice some hissing when changing gears, don't know if that is related or a seperate issue.

Booking into the garage this week, but wondered if anyone has any guesses as to what it might be????

Thanks in advance.

I vaguely remember someone else having a similar problem. Have a look in Octavia 1 forum. Could be a vacuum leak.

Hi thanks. I thought it could be a VAC leak.

I will post the result of my garage visit.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi everyone. Just realised I put my topic in the wrong section.

Any thoughts on my issue?

It was running really nice prior to this issue.

I will leave this thread here, but really it is just for saying hello

Post any questions in the Octavia section

You'll get more replies there

Cheers
