Hi

Picked up my 170 Elegance this week and boy are the tyres noisy! Its running a half worn set of 18" Pirelli Pzero Rosso's. Anyone had experiance with these. Have had tracking and all balancing done + pressures ok. Reasonably quiet on ultra smooth tarmac but not much of that about! Everything else is superb!!

Anything is quieter than pirelli

Noticed Continental are doing a Contisilent with a foam sound insulation pad bonded to the inside of the tyre. Not sure if available yet or how much?

The Avons on the front of mine are great.

Always stayed away from pirelli for the same reason as you have. Noisy.

The Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's seem to have a good db rating of 67. Anyone tried them?

Goodyear efficient grip performance.

Doubt you will get quieter.

I agree.

I had Toyo C1s on my Superb (after the Conti's) and are rated at 69 DB - they were much quieter than the OEM tyres.

I was going to start a new thread on this actually but will add here.  I have Conti Sport Contact 2 - 225/18/40 and they do get noisy but only from 100kph (60mph) to around 120kph.  Its a kind of rotational humming noise, its not overly annoying but noticeable.  Had the tracking and balancing  done.  Wheels taken off and inspected with no damage detected on the alloys or tyres.  Suspension was checked also. Only 4,000kms done and appears on all road surfaces.   I know similar issues have been mentioned before on the forum.

I agree.

I've just had a pair of Goodyear EG's fitted on the rear wheels & they seem quite quiet.

Probably drowned out by the Conti Sport Contact 2's on the front, but since there is still 4/5 mm tread left on them, I'll have to wait

untill they are scrubbed out before I buy 2 more Goodyears...........

Couldn't put up with noise any longer so fitted a new set of Goodyear EG Performance, what a difference! Anyone need a set of noisy part worn Pirelli's ?

Hold on to them - with 18" wheels it doesn't take much to do damage so you might be glad of a few spares!!

Lease company authorised new set for my Superb yesterday. Worn Michelin's came off, new Pirellis on.

Had to pump the radio volume up from normal setting today as the new tyres are so noisy

Glad it goes in 7 weeks but feel sorry for the punter who buys it next as they will have 20-30k miles of background rumble that isn't a feature of the car

I changed to goodyears on the front after the Conti's were worn out at 13k, the GY have now done 11k and are less than half worn which is good. The rear Conti's will need changing soon after about 26k which for me is not good should do 40k at the rear and they will be replaced with the GYEG as on the front.
