Roof Bar Recommendation for Fabia 2 estate

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone recommend roof bars to fit a Fabia 2 estate between the longitudinal factory fitted bars. I plan only to use these occasionally and I am reluctant to buy the genuine Skoda ones at about £140. It would be nice if they were easily removable too.

Thanks Pete

I use Thule Aero roof bars, I have had them for years and think they are absolutely fantastic.  At various times on a variety of cars with roof rails I have used them with a (borrowed) roof box, with a cycle rack and with a ski rack.  So far as I can recall, they weren't cheap but they are incredibly easy to fit and remove and they have a lock and key,  In fact I fitted and removed them today to collect some fence panels.

Got mine from Halfords (cost about £60); used for carrying 3 bikes. Halfords website has got a handy function which allows you to id correct bars by putting in your reg number........and no, I don't work for Halfords!

Hi Pete, when I bought my mk2 estate (new) in 2008, I had ordered the skoda roof rack and it is held on by 1 alan key fixing in each corner, which has a cover locked on by a key, so it's easy to put on or take off.

I think it cost me £80.00 & I'm very happy I bought them.

I got some "Summit alu roof bars" they are lockable as well. about £50 delivered, a few places online had them

The Skoda bars are Thule Aero and their price isn't too bad, last time I checked.

The ones I've used on three Skodas (Octavia, Superb, Fabia) and the Golf - Thule non-Aero (square section) with the right fitment kits.

Non-aero is a bit cheaper and let's face it, if you've got bars on, it's even less aerodynamic than the standard BRICK Fabia profile (especially with a 300L roofbox), so I saved a bit of money.  I never leave them on, so wasn't worried about wind noise etc.

If genuine ones are £140 and Thule Aero, that's cheaper than Halfords (just been and looked if its the same ones for a Fabia and a Mk3 Octavia as thats what the next steed will be)....and they are.
