Number plate & interior LEDs; suggestions please?

Featured Replies

Ok,

As the above, I'm looking for suggestions in order to replace the number plate lights and the interior lights with LEDs

Not being bulb-savvy, can anyone suggest the exact type of bulbs I would need, and possible suppliers please.

I know of autobulbs direct, Hids4u etc but can't make out if they supply the required bulbs and the exact type etc.

Also

If I replace the front fogs with HID bulbs, do they need the canbus-cancellers, or would it be better just to put in updated standard-type bulbs; if so, again I'd welcome any suggestions.

Btw, before anyone suggests it, I appreciate that brighter bulbs in fog-lights may be counter productive, as you may just get more light reflected back at you.....

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The number plate bulbs are "239 (38mm) led" I got some off ebay that do the job and they are nice and cheap!

Also interested in front fogs. They don't need to be canbus. Atleast on my car (54 plate VRS). I've ordered these but I don't think they will be up for the job. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331099169729?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Would you get yellow 3000k ones or a white / blue light? I'm not sure what ones to get myself if I do.

This website is useful for telling you what all the bulb types are :).

I'd be going for a light that is white with a. Touch of blue, to match the headlights (hids4u kit)

search for the seller 'Fizzmo' on ebay. his bulbs are made here in the uk and are exceptional quality. Been using him for the past 3 years on various cars ive had and not one bulb has failed on me yet!

Thanks for that, I'll take a look!

SO the bulbs above for interior are also side light bulbs??

Excellent!

Are you aware of the possible low current draw problems with fitting LEDs into the interior light?

Mine pick up some residual current when I have my wipers on intermittent and flicker quite often. It's really irritating when there's a bit of rain in the evening.

Not to mention the fact that putting LEDs in there makes it massively over-bright. It hurts your eyes when it's dark!

I'll be taking them out soon...

Aha, ok, I'll look into that, thanks
