3 days into new Superb ownership.....

Featured Replies

..think I've got most things sussed.....however....

When the wipers are on, the passenger side one makes a 'tap' sound when it drops back to the bottom of the screen (in the park position) - every time!  Got out of the car and the plastic plug on the end of the wiper if coming into contact with the plastic that sits directly below the windscreen.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Nope. Take it back to the dealer and get it fixed.

They are programmed to park in a different position from time to time...

"Each time the ignition switches off for the third time, the position of the windscreen wipers changes. This counteracts an early fatigue of the wiper rubbers."

...but what you describe is plain wrong.

Didn't know that - how cool, those clever Czechs have really thought of everything!

Thanks guys.  Will call them tomorrow....

sounds like it might need unbolting and moving around the spline a little bit?

Yes definitely that. On my Octavia I had the same problem when I replaced my wiper arm in slightly the wrong position after accessing the gateway.

The rear one does the same

Had a quick go myself tonight - 5 minute job right?  Wrong.  6 month old car and couldn't budge them.  Will have another go tomorrow in the light - but the dealer has told me just to drop in and they'll do it while I wait....  it's just a bit out of my way.....

Both arms need to move a few degrees......

They can be a bugger to loosen the first time. I find its easier with the arm bent up.

If it's under warranty, why risk breaking something yourself? Let the dealer take care of it...Also, make sure BEFORE you accept the car from them, ask for someone to spray the windshield with a garden hose while you test the wipers...wouldn't surprise me they bend the arms so you get a section that's not wiped properly, or a squeek in the wipe.

Ha - failed again this morning trying all the suggested (and googled) tips.  Dealer it is.

So, dropped into the dealer today - got it fixed in 5 minutes!  I don't think they can have removed the nuts and arms...  I reckon there is some other quicker adjustment they can make....

Really pleased with the dealer....
