superb 11 hatchback problem

Featured Replies

My superb has had a new boot as a result of a rear shunt. All the switches at catches work but the drivers side catch between the glass and the boot lid pulls down a little further than the left hand side.  It makes a terrible squeak but it does work.  Is this storing problems for the future or is it something that I can adjust?  The claw that engages on the pin when the full hatch is opened does not fully locate but other than that the parts of the mechanism appear to function correctly.  I have read the forum on superb twin door wiring fix and found this helpful but pics were very small and does not mention adjustment. If anyone has experienced this I would be very pleased to hear views.

Many thanks from a very new person to this forum

They need to "re-ajust" it a bit more me thinks.

open the boot as a hatch, remove all the boot trim surrounds on the boot hatch only,   including the cover on the sedan part of the boot.     you will then need to unplug the power to the boot mechanism which is located on the left side of the sedan part of the boot.     release the two claws mannually that attaches the sedan part of the boot with the glass part of the boot.    the sedan part will just spring back as if it was opening by itself.   loosen the 4 screws slightly that hold the wing motor in place,   the wing motors should be in their opened position,      close the glass part of the hatch down leaving the sedan part opened,   and move the motor up till it meets the pin that locks onto the hatch part of the boot.,   you should be sitting in the boot at this point, and you will need to pull down the glass a little to set the correct closing position of the boot and the motors so that the boot isnt loose when the motors do ingage.    once set tighten your wing motor screws,   open back up your hatch mannually,   fix back your sedan part of the boot to the glass part by engaging the two claws,    connect up you power cables,   and see how she closes before you fit back all your trims.  you might need a little more adjusting.

Thanks for the reply. The detail and clarity of your description have prompted me to have go. Will report back when done. Thanks again.
