Drivers Side Headlight Bulb Failure

Evening all,

 

I've done a quick search about this and drew a blank. 

 

Today I had a Light Out Warning come up on the dash.  Before I even got out of the car I knew which one it was as the only bulb I have ever had fail on this car is the drivers side headligh bulb.  Sure enough, it was that bulb.  This is the third set I have had to replace and it is ALWAYS the drivers side bulb that goes, the passenger side is perfectly fine.  Is there a logical reason why that particular bulb fails, or is it just a coincidence. 

 

As an aside, the drivers side black bolt that holds the headlight in position, sheared when I was adjusting it for driving on the Continent, meaning I could not remove the headlight to replace bulbs.  It was only repaired last week !! 

 

Maybe it is possessed!

Could the broken nut be allowing the headlight to vibrate more than normal thus shortening the life of the bulb?

Slim chance but does the car use the dipped beam as DRLs? If so standard life bulbs don't last long at all, as I found with the mother in laws Polo 6r.
