Iv bought a VW caddy and its got a 75mph speed restricter fitted as its ex britishgas. I belive its built into the ecu so im hoping a good soul on here will have the knowhow to remove it. Thanks in advance.

Not convinced its something VCDS can activate / deactivate.

I would be curious where and how.  I have it in Devon, but some way to travel.  There'll be someone near you on the VCDS map if you check the VCDS section.

Ah yes as you thought, its a physical box of electronics to remove rather than a ecu thing. Thanks for your help though. Pete.

There is a speed limiter option available on some (at least) ECU’s however it can only be turned down, so it can make the top speed less but cannot be increased!

 

 

Channel 18: 

• On some EDC-15 ECUs, this channel has a non-zero value in it like 190.
• Yes, that's the "speed limiter".   Don't mess with it! 
• It can only be adjusted downward, and it's one-way!   You cannot increase the value, and if you decrease it, you're stuck with it.
• So unless you want to permanently decrease your car's top speed, Don't mess with it!
• If you do mess with it and your car ends up with a lower top speed than it had before, don't call us, don't e-mail us, and don't complain that we didn't warn you!
