Bought a nail

Featured Replies

Hello all.  After writing off my beloved octy tdi dsg (my fault!) I needed a car  smartish and did not having much dosh and have bought a X reg Furby 1,9 tdi 117500 miles it drives lovely I was told the belt was changed around 95k the body has dings pretty much all over. the interior was minging  I have vaxed with vanish and now the seats are presentable. The thing is I very much doubt if the correct oil for PD engines will have been used therefore. is it worth putting this in at such a late stage? If anybodies interested I bought the car in Jan with 5 months tax 4 month test for £500 off gumtree mind you I had to go to Dundee for it.

If the wrong oil has been used say bye bye to the camshaft.

500 pounds ha ha if its running OK just change oil and rioters for correct stuff clean out the egr valve and fingers crossed belt has been done may go on forever

You should be able to see one of the cams through the oil filler cap, as long as it looks ok and isn't noisy you should be ok.

Rioters? Nope, can't predict what that was supposed to be... Filters?

The engines are pretty bulletproof, even with the wrong oil it should hold out well if maintained properly now...my car had been ran with no oil in prior to me buying it (last time i dont check the oil...) but after putting some really decent oil in..everything is beginning to quieten down and thinks are running smoothly!

Was. Meant to be filters lol
