Chrome Roof Bars - Dull

Featured Replies

Any ideas what I can use to brighten them up - noticed on Saturday whilst cleaning that they were slightly dull, nothing major but not as bright as normal.

Got Britemax Twins - will they be any good on them?

Autosol liquid chrome cleaner?

Autosol liquid chrome cleaner?

Don't have any mate and wondered whether the Britemax pair would do the job before I fork out on something else.

not sure if it would be a bit to harsh on the roof bars. Chris is yer man, really.

My thoughts exactly Lee.

Cheers Chris, won't get chance until the weekend now or might wait til I wash next.

If they're just lightly weathered the Final Shine part of 'the twins' on a microfibre should see you well :)

Get a pic of before and after if you can. I have a mate's Exeo estate with the same issue. But I wasn't sure if it was due to the finish on the bars. Almost looks like a matt finish on them, looks weird.

Will do - not sure when I'll get round to it. Might do a little test patch to see.

Had a go at cleaning with Britemax Twins earlier, came up really well with the cutting compound (green) and the polish compound (white) gave them a good shine.

Difficult to try to capture the results by the camera:

Before: You can make out the dull surface.

Right hand side completed with both compounds:

Again, right hand side upto the join competed with both compounds:

Overall the Britemax Twins performed very well and have certainly taken the dull sheen off the rails and they are now much brighter.

Well done
