to spend or not to spend

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

First time caller long time listener.

I have a 05 fabia VRS with 102k on the clock.

Remapped to 165bhp 270ft.

All original parts clutch turbo etc..

Slight slip in 6th every so often but only 5 or so times in 12 months so very manageable.

Turbo gives a tinny whistle as I accelerate but no siren noises etc...

I don't really want to spend a grand on clutch and turbo but don't want to get stuck on the M1 either pushing my luck in a 9 year old car.

should I replace parts or stop being a tart and be glad I have a well looked after car?

If it was me I would get it fixed

A whistle is likely to be a small boost leak. Check the lower pipe to turbo as this is the likely culprit. As for the clutch, I would not worry until it gets a lot worse than you have stated. Just adapt your driving a little I would say.
