jacking pointst

Featured Replies

OK to use front chassis rails and axle stands on rear beam which?e wheels are being refurbED ?

Your not meant to jack on rear beam. But I alwasy do. Just put your stands near the endges . Might me better to put on a more solid part of car body at the rear it string for a while

What I do is jack up on the sill jacking point but leave just enough room to get the axle stand in as well. My axle stands are from machine mart and have a cut out so they can be used to support the sills without causing any adverse bending. I wouldn't jack up on the rear beam as there is hardly anything to it in terms of structural rigidity to support the weight of the car at a localised point.

Probably should have read your question better sorry mate lol. I think some of what I said may be helpful though. At the front of the car I have jacked up on sills and put axle stands directly under the rear wishbone bushes.

I use a trolley jack and block of wood on the front chassis rails and support with axle stands under the rails. At the rear, I jack the rear beam and use axle stands either side of it. I know you're not supposed to jack the rear beam but I've done it on every car I've had and never had a problem.
