I am not sure how to switch on air recorculation mode... Or is there something wrong with my recirculation system because ... Its not getting on by simply pressing the button

Recirc should also kick-in when using the windscreen washers for a few seconds. You can hear a delicate "thump" noise as it engages and the air sound changes too.
