Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have Skoda Fabia (2005) Audio system is crap as hell. But to be fair i dont want to invest in it much.

I have original stereo system , and i am thinking to upgrade speakers and a bass package.

Can you tell me guys , what i need to buy ?

As i reckon so far, i need to buy -

6.5" Component system

Skoda fabia front speaker adaptors

ProPlus 12" Active 1000 Watt Enclosure

Line out converter

Wiring kit

Line out converter which is needed to connect a sub and amplifier

And how to connect everything ?

Take old speakers -fit new (and all jobs on speakers done )? i dont need to touch my stereo ?

And how i should instal boss ?

Thanks in advance.

I am afraid I can't answer all of your questions Obli, but;
My current car is a 206 (Only six speakers,  whilst the Fabia has 8 I think)  with only one front door speaker working, the only improvement to my stereo system that has made a huge improvement, was a sub woofer in the boot of the car, I'll be honest it wasn't cheap and is too powerful for the car (a lot of rattling due to no sound insulation) it also drowns out the rest of the speakers once I start to crank the volume up.
However, the improvement made by simply adding a sub woofer to generally any stock car stereo system is massive. If you start off by just adding a simple run of the mill sub woofer from Halfords or an equivalent shop (£150-£200 for the amplifier and the subwoofer and box) you may not need to upgrade any of the other speakers.
That would be, from my experience, the best advice I can give you.

If you can imagine your current stock stereo 'using' a range of, for example, 1 to 5 out of a max range of 1 to 10. If you add in a basic 'entry level' subwoofer, that range will jump from 1 to 5, to 1 to 9 out of a possible 1 to 10.
the change in the standard of the audio will be vast.

If you listen to music that isn't very bass heavy (electronic etc), you'll probably find a set of 6x9's with a small all will make a big difference.

They will deliver much more bass and you won't have issues with normal sounds getting drowned out, as everything gets louder!

6x9's will run off a much smaller amplifier than a small sub would require which is much cheaper! Also it won't take up any of your boot space.

If you are using the factory head unit you will need to get an amplifier that has a "high-in", or high power input.

That being said, a sub is great fun and I've got one in my fabia. Power isn't everything though, poor quality loud sounds will ruin any music!

What kinds of music do you listen to ? Anything with talking?

I'm not an expert but I've built 4 or 5 sound systems now, if you let me know how much you're hoping to spend and what you will most often listen to I'll try and have a look at some options
