bla bla bla!

skoda Superb- the first prototype, called "Montreux", had even a 4000 cc, W8 (a variant of the classic V8 layout, but with three heads), 275 hp

skoda Favorit two racing evolutions: the "Favorit-H", with a Volkswagen 1600 cc. engine boosted to 175 hp (210 km/h), and the very outstanding "Favorit 4x4", realized for the Paris-Dakar and equipped with the engine of the Tatra "613" placed centrally (V8, 3500 cc, air-cooled)!

i was bored! :)

that W8 is fitted into the passat. the passat W8 :rolleys: tis 4 motion aswell i think

shame we dont get it in the superb :( could it be called the Superb vRS!?

And the W8 is effectively two v4's mated together.

The W12 is two V6's

The W16 is two V8's

Seems a pretty pointless layout, would have thought a v8 would be smoother and offer a more compact block. Can't see any power advantage at all, assuming same swept volume per cylinder.

A W8 block should have a shorter overall length and a lower centre of gravity than a V8, basically offering more power in lower volume package. The downside is the complicated cylinder head arrangement.

Assuming an identical swept volume and brake mean effective pressure (an indication of how well designed the engine is) then the W8 and V8 will have the same (peak) torque output. Power outputs may be different due to differing volumetric efficiencies.

A W8 can have a good balance but it will require twin(?) balancer shafts.
