VRS Gearbox Oil TDI

Featured Replies

Now I know Skoda say gearbox oil doesn't need changing and it's a life long oil blah blah...

But I think it does! 07 plate VRS now on 112,000miles I'd like to have it changed.

I'm getting it mapped soon in a few weeks ( I know the gearbox doesn't really play a part in this ) however I'm replacing/changing engine oil with top spec stuff for the engine and I just want the car running like new as best as I can before the map.

So as far are gearbox oil goes..is there a specific type to go for? Synthetic, Shell, Etc...

wouldn't hurt at all---what ever is specified (currently) or refer to Fuch's  most likely available from Opei  ?   they give good service

Okay! I'll probably speak to a local garage and let them do it and source the gearbox oil.

Genuine VAG gear oil is seemingly pretty good. Thats what I used. Just make sure you get the right stuff - they may need the date stamp on the bottom of the gearbox to give you the correct oil.

in view of the above and my experience I would source what you're happy with even if someone else is doing the work
