URGENT HELP NEEDED PLEASE

Featured Replies

Iv a 2003 superb 1.9 diesel,, I had the dreaded water ingress problem from pollen filter housing...iv resealed the filter housing, removed passenger seat pulled up carpet, wasnt to wet but still damp enough...I started repairing the corroded joints at front of car working my way to rear seats..I didnt miss any of the joints,,stripped back to good clean copper wire, solder and wrapped each one up, same with the Brown earth wire..but to no joy on fixing my problems..ill point out that my ccm was clean and dry,, some connections were not to bad others worse.....so my problems are as follows..

No power Windows at all..

No sunroof power at all

No interior lights except for rear passenger door overhead light.

No puddle lights.

Instrument lights on radio and driver door Windows switch flicker on/off as does top display on instrument panal on dash that show radio station etc...

On testing voltage on red/blue bunchs of wires they running at 12 plus volts...

On testing wires at pin block connectors for ccm some read zero voltage, some 4plus volts and some especially red/black wire going into each plug running at 13 plus volts...

Ok so, am I missing something here, iv checked the fuses at side of driver door, all ok..what about maybe a relay causing these problems??

Im lost the car has its test on Friday morning and im not in a situation this week ,money wise to leave car into a garage .

PLEASE HELP..MARC

This might sound a bit left field, but try the connections in the driver's door. Also, if you have access, try putting a dehumidifier in the car or failing that about 4lb of silica gel.

Ok so, but what will door connections do to help, just asking as im unsure??

Been looking on the web and on couple of sites it says there are two fuses under steering wheel at relay panal that control ccm, not the fuseboard at side of dash,, anybody know??.. Also on a recent trip I was playing with window switch while driving and at 1 stage window opened a small bit then took me lots of trys to close it but got it in the end..driver window..im lost as to what is causing these problems...

Also, floorpan, carpets, all wiring is now fully dry

Anybody

Not to sound arrogant or anything, but i'm pretty sure you missed something when you "fixed" the cabling under the carpet going to the CCM. I would double check all of it and remove any cables that look green or has anything on them.

  • Author

You dont its ok, id say the same myself..im 100% sure I got all connections sorted as I removed all vag wrap from cables, then slowly. Unbunched cableing into sections so to speak and removed rear seat carpet.. Im sure I got all connections. I even cut back Brown earth, New fitting rebolted it down..I took my time, did it right

Can you get it hooked up to VCDS to see if the CCM is even talking to you?

Cant with work this week and test on Friday...does anybody know of pin diagram or know what pins are live feeds to ccm??

Or maybe a way to bypass for now to get Windows etc working for test?

Iv tested voltage of wires going into the block connectors, some showing 12/13 volts others zero volts..so if I knew wat pin should have power I should be able to figure it out I hope..

Thanks for replys..

Im nearly 100% ccm is ok as it was dry, no corrosion,, and wen driving around playing with window switch odd time window gos down.and up also rear passenger door overhead light works..

Is there a way to test it,, does anybody know which pins on connector block bring in/out power supply how I can check voltage...

Suparb,s are hard to find in breakers yard and dont or cant afford a new one right now so if I could find a way of testing it that would be great...

Getting seriously ****ed off now as my last car was a Passat 2001 which had same problem and really really cant understand how vag can still in this day get away with it..if Japanese it would be worldwide recall...joke...also car is in mint condition otherwise engine gearbox etc 100% so dont want to get rid..

No keyfob working

No interior lights except rear passenger overhead.

No boot unlock from fob or cabin only with key..

Central locks work on turning key in lock but not on fob.

No sunroof power.

No power Windows but work odd time if constantly messing with switch..

Also if I unplug ccm and then plug back in, hazards come on and off for maybe 10/15 min I think to reset alarm etc so I think it is working.

Radio instruments display, driver door power window switch lights and top dash display(radio station) flicker while driving...

IM TOTALLY LOST AS TO WHAT PROBLEM IS.

And more I look at it the more annoying it gets. Im starting to think I have a bad earth somewere...also think I may cancel my test for Friday as I dont think ill get it sorted unless a genius posts a helpfull reply...

Thanks all for trying to help

Further to what has already been said, did you open up the ccm case and look at the circuit board for signs of corrosion?

Also, when you fixed the joints in the harness, did you check and remake the canbus connections - they are the twisted pair of cables, orange/brown striped from memory and they need to stay as a twisted pair in the harness. The joints I'm thinking of are in the rear passenger footwell on a right hand drive car.

I suggest you try and get the car scanned for fault codes with vcds

Yes I opened up ccm.dry, clean, free of any corrosion...I repaired all the connections front to rear even those two canbus connections but I did undo those wires, separated them to cut strip etc..did these hold memory for ccm??

The wires don't hold / control any memory that I'm aware of. As long as you reconnected them the canbus wiring should be OK in that area at least. The twisting I was referring to was that the canbus wires are twisted / wrapped around each other to eliminate / reduce interference.

Have you looked in the vcds forum to see if anyone near you has vcds to get the car scanned?

Iv test for car tomorrow afternoon, I can get vag-com but not until Monday as mechanic busy when im free.. Is there any chance u might know wire/voltage that powers ccm unit as I dont want to miss test..at least that way I can maybe see if power is getting to it etc..or ideally a wire diagram for ccm

I've never seen a wire diagram for the CCM on this forum for this car. I'm with anyone else about the VCDS scan to see if there is any faults.

Cant get that done till Monday,no Tuesday as Monday St paddys day and test tomorrow and with work i cant get away to try an other garage..if I could just find out which wire powers the ccm I,ll spend the evening/night working my way backwards from it and hopefully find a fault..

F##k the 1 day I dont have my credit card with me..get it this eve,, thank you

Thank you JIMBOF,, iv spend couple hrs on web searching for this and couldnt find it..from this I shud be able to find my fault..iv been told that under steering wheel were relays are, there are a couple of fuses that have something to do with the CCM, is this true???

Also just asking to know , THE RELAYS,, do any of them have anything to do with the CCM???

Just iv read on web on one site to check those fuses, relays....

When I purchased car there was no owners manual with it,but iv had Passats and know them quite well, manuals also unfortunately...

Also on the driver side door piller interior, theres a button about a foot up from floor, on it a picture of car and wat looks like, say, WiFi sign upside on it..what is this button for??

Thank you for all your help briskoda,s

That button is normally for disabling the interior alarm.

There was a fault on main power supply to ccm,, got the pin diagram, did continuous test on wire and half way back to plug at footwell under the wire wrap, all corroded, sum1 probed it before and never sealed wire insulation back up..

Thanks again and if anybody needs help I think by now im expert on this problem..also paid for the hour at erwins and printed off wire ddiagrams...great help...can test it now tomorrow..
