Hey all. In the coming months im going to changing to some coilovers. What's the recommended brand to get? Also why im there ill change the top mounts to some new ones or uprated ones if there are any? What else should I do while im there. New drop links?

From prosport at £200 to KW V3 for £1200 and everything in between, depends on budget.

I just bought some prosports, bought new polybush topmounts, droplinks(as far as I know only necessary on prosports if you drop it silly low), all the relevant nuts and bolts, front strut top bearings and rear bump stops.

Looking around the £200 mark for the coilover upgrade. I want to go low. Seen a couple of pist about them prosports and its put me off them. What about fk or jom? Wheres the best place to get the bolts bearings and poly bushes?

Cheap coilovers and slamming it really low, possibly going to suck whatever brand.

I ordered bolts from skoda, bearings and bump stops from GSF car parts and coilovers and polybush top mounts from DPMPerformance.

Will end up spending about £300 for everything.

Yh thats not a bad price. Yh I understand quality is not going to be great. From what iv seen with coilovers is under £500 they seem to be around the same quality. What mid range brands are there? I wont be slamming it as I dont like the tyre in arch look. Plus I need to get over speed humps so looking at having as little gap in the arch as I possibly can.

Cheers for the link. Some expensive units on there lol. Is it only the prosport brand that require different drop links? Think I might go for a set of fk or joms. That sucks. Is there a back log on the bolts or something?

Skoda garage had no idea when they would turn up, fairly useless to be honest, luckily wife is away so can use her car.  :giggle:

As far as I know, someone will correct me if wrong, the prosports are the only ones that require drop links and even then its only if you go really low.

Anyone know how long these fk coilovers last? Wouldn't want to be buying new sets every other year.

Yh dont rate skoda dealership. Took my car in for its coilpacks Tuesday. Still not got it back yet!

If I can be any help with info or prices just let me know me.

Damian @ DPM Performance

I've got the FK street line kit comes with drop links for £225 from Damain at DPM kit comes direct from Germany so takes about 5 days. Just be aware if you want to go really low at the front you'll need spacers or the tyres will rub on the spring platforms. Here's mine after I fitted them, I've now dropped the front another 1cm but that's all I can do without spacers.

Whats the ride like on them? I thought if you had the standard tyre size it wouldnt touch? Id like to probably go abit lower than yours. My only concern is how long they will last.

Ride is pretty good, it's hard but can't expect smooth ride on coilovers even expensive ones. Even on standard wheels and tyres you need spacers to drop the car the the last 5 cm of travel, unless you don't fit the helper springs. If you removed them then the platform would sit 10 cm above but I reckon the ride would be really hard then.

As for build quality I can't say they've only been on since February.

Thing is in this price bracket it's always a gamble, got to weigh it up against the fact the car cost me less than 2k so I ain't gonna spend 1k on coilovers.
