Coilover problems

Featured Replies

I have coilovers on my 2005 fabia vrs and i have gone from 17" wheels to 16" and i need to alter my suspension coilovers , im not sure of the make of them but i was unsure if it was Clockwise or Anticlockise to make the car higher , i have been winding the spring clockwise but it hasnt seemed to made much difference at all , can anyone help me or give me some good advice here if possible please . Thanks Justin

I'm just going to assume they are right hand thread.

Turning Clockwise / Right will give less travel making the car higher.  (you are winding upward)

Turning Anti Clockwise / Left will give more travel, lowing the car. (you are winding downward)

I'm literally doing hand movements like im adjusting Coilovers haha :giggle: Hope its right now, lol

 Edit

My god i was wrong! i was looking as the strut from the bottom, lol

Its standard thread. .

So, assume your looking at the strut from above, clockwise will lower, anti clockwise will higher.

Also I just noticed you said youve been turning the spring . . ? Or have you been moving the adjuster collar by turning the spring? . If the collar is stiff or seized moving the spring might not be doing anything.

I thought that as well, turning the spring won't do any good unless your turning the actual platform the spring sits on

if its jacked up you can sometimes get away with it if your already low, less pressure from the spring pushing on the adjuster and locking it up. . I used to just put both hands around adjuster and spring (cupping it ) and spin both ;-)

I Jacked the car up and turned the spring with the collar so im assuming thats adjusting the height is it ? i do have the coilover tool to adjust it but its a pain in the ass and you can never get proper leverage to turn the spring enough ,you have to keep adjusting the tool :whew: So its 100% anticlockwise to make the car higher then ?  Thank you all for your response and great help .
