I'm posting this here as I'm nor specifically after any VCDS advice on this one.

I've checked the Ross Tech Wiki for meanings of the fault codes:

16825/P0441/001089 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow Possible Symptoms
  • Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) active
Possible Causes
  • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) faulty/jammed
  • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115) faulty/jammed
  • Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Sealing faulty
  • Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body leaky/blocked
Possible Solutions
  • Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)
    • Perform Output Test
  • Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve (N115)
  • Check Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister
    • Perform Basic Setting
  • Check Pipes between Tank Breathing and Throttle Body

01598 - Drive Battery Voltage: Signal to Low Possible Symptoms
  • Engine not starting
Possible Causes
  • Battery low
  • Battery faulty
Possible Solutions
  • Charge Battery
  • Check/Replace Battery

But none of this explains why the coolant warning light came on. I've checked the coolant and oil - evidence of some oil in coolant but not the other way round. But that is not the issue as it was far worse than this before I changed the head gasket and cylinder head.

Battery I can get checked, but I suspect that this is not the cause of the warning light.

My main issue is that I know nothing about the EVAP canister or its whereabouts or what to check. Hence why I am asking in this section.

Where is it?

What do I need to look for when I check it?

Is it easy to replace?

Any advice on this appreciated.

Try giving the prongs in the expansion vessel a scrape with a screwdriver and see if the light goes out.

The evap canister should be on the left hand side of the engine bay as you look from the front.  It will be a cylinder (I think) as will have a pipe that goes to the air intake pipework and another which goes back to the fuel tank.  It makes a ticking noise when the valve operates.  It collects fumes from the petrol tank and periodically feeds then into the air intake to get rid of them.

Thanks. I'll take a look & listen.

I forgot to say that the car was left standing for two days after the light came on as I couldn't get to look or scan it any quicker.

The light wasn't on when I went to look and has been off since. Two weeks, almost.

Was it cold when the light came on?

I had it happen on my old car and it was very intermittent but normally when it was a cold morning.

It wasn't. And when it has been cold there have been no issues .

It is more common when cold but not only when it's cold.
