Hi All,

This is my first foray into Skoda ownership. Bought the Octavia as a cheap working car/van and it has been a generally good experience. It drives really well for an estate car, is reasonably economical, comfortable and is mostly reliable.

I bought the car with the intention of gradually improving it as I use it. It had a few known faults, so was cheap but cheerful. Faults being very bad lacquer problem on bonnet and a few minor scratches and dent, rear wiper dodgy, no speedo nor any other dials working at all, completely filthy inside and a battery draining problem that was supposed to have been solved by removal of the fuse for the radio.

Guess what - battery still drained over about 2-3 days if not used on a good run!

On the positive side it was local, drove and stopped well, had 6 months tax and MOT.

So far I have sprayed the bonnet black for now, fixed the rear wiper, got the dials working via fuse removal bodge (many thanks briskoda) and given it a good clean a polish. Oh and pull fuses out to prevent battery drain.

Well that's it for now

Regards

Jack R.
