Oil Tempreture fab vRS

Featured Replies

Hi it has prob been discussed before but could not find the topic!

I used 'S' in the way home today and oil got to 106 deg C! Is that too high or within parameters! I guess the turbo was glowing as well????

I don't worry I didn't switch off straight away!

Probably a lot of variables depending non state, how much oil in car etc!!

Re turning off - the turbo fluid bearing is water cooled with a 15-minute timed electric pump.

I wouldn't worry, I had 109C at Castle combe and I topped oil up before going out

Sounds like you drove it like it properly

I regularly see 120 degrees and have been seeing this for 130k miles with no problems

So i wouldn't worry about 106 degrees. .

Yeah I wouldn't worry! I get to well over 100 deg after a spirited run

I also can go well over that temp on the right road.

Although have to say it is now much harder to do with the Castrol Edge FST 0w30 oil in there.  A good 5 degrees less temp under most circumstances now.

I've seen 115 deg's with ambient temp of 1 deg on country lanes so would say its ok, I like you didn't switch it off straight away, I drove couple steady miles until in was down to 97 deg before parking the beasty.

Just general driving around in summer I get well over 100 degrees, especially going uphill, never mind giving it the beans.

Any takers on my 120 degrees? Lol!

BTW I have gone higher a few times while on the ring on hot summer days .

No mayonase on my oil filler cap .
