my key just turns in my door to open just turns clockwise to open but as normal to lock does this mean something broke inside I had a look on eBay for a barrel repair kit messaged the seller to see if this is right part but this is the message I got back.

 

" This part fits 1u type Octavia. if your car is 1z which is manufactured that year as well. you need to confirm the length and parts yourself."  

 

this don't really help me.

 

so any help or information would be very helpful.

1u is the mark I Octavia also know as tour after 2004 when it was sold mainly to taxi drivers. The 1z is the mark II sold from 2004 to 2013.

(Basically, the 1z code is part of the VIN number and denotes: 1 skoda, z Octavia mkII)

Have a search here and on the internet for changing door locks on Skoda's and Volkswagen to see how they fit, they are mostly the same.

I have had a look on here and internet but cant seem to find out what size it is.

I have seen 2 different sizes 44.4mm and 52mm does anyone know sizes ?

I checked out a few online purchase options but found that going to a dealer enabled me to get a replacement barrel to fit my existing key for a shade under £40. The Mk1 can be repaired but the Mk2 has to be replaced though it is a relatively straightforward job.
