VRS Coilover opinions...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

After fitting the H&R Cup Kit a couple of weeks ago I'm now thinking of getting coilovers to get the drop I'm after.

The H&R Kit is very good, stable and comfortable (For Sale Now). But I need more drop for the look I'm after.

I've done the search and not really found the answers I am after.

I want an adjustable set. I use the car as my daily driver on average roads. It's a 2008 VRS Estate. Wheels are 18x8.5/9.5" with semi-stretched tyres. Budget from £500-£700.

Can I have opinions of those who run coilovers please.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

I had Eibach coils on my Fabia VRS with a 45mm drop and they were more comfy than the standard suspension yet handled far better. They are stainless but not top adjustable and a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I'd certainly recommend them.

Interesingly I'm looking at the -50mm H&R cup kit (should drop the Octy by a little over 30mm), was it the fact that they didn't go low enough thats made you change them?

I was unfortunately sent the wrong set... Wanted the 55mm drop and got 35mm drop... Only noticed once on the car! Doh.

I've run mk2 octavias with three different coilover kits: weitec hicon gt, bilstein b16 and h&r monotubes.  Weitecs are pretty good and cheapest of those three, bilsteins would be great for a car that sees a lot of track days and/or does a low mileage on the street, but for a street car daily driven the h&rs are the best IMO and worth the extra money.  they also go much lower than the other two kits if thats your bag.

The ST X by KW coilover kit is a good option for everyday fast road use and just over your budget.

Ride quality on the AP and ST will be very similar with the main difference being the build on the ST kit.

The Apex kit has a slightly firmer ride but offers a wider lowering range.
