squeaky chair

Featured Replies

Anyone else got a squeaky chair? i cant remember if it was this vrs or my previous one that squeaked when you pushed back into the chair ( dealer did something to it ) but its now starting to do my nut in again

its the upright part of the chair, poss around the side wing bit, that the noise seems to be coming from

how the heck do you get into that area to try fix it, not sure if you could use a warranty for that or not its over 2 years old now, nothings broken its just a noise??

Mines does and has done since i got it. Its done it since i got it and doesnt really bother me that often. Could do with a tip to fix it aswell though [emoji16]

Move the height up and down a few times.  Fixed the problem in mine!

^^^^^^ +1  Often does the job.

(Do not go spraying WD 40 under the seat.)

& before a warranty was out i noticed the seat had never been moved for 'long time mister',

and was fully back and low, and could not be moved, so a new seat base was done under Warranty.

It could not be MOT'd until the seat went forward and back.

+2, ratchet the seat up one notch from bottom on mine and it's fine, only squeaks in it's lowest position.

I have wondered if something is not under as much tension when it sits at the lowest setting.

Mine does (did to be more specific) too. Then I used some WD-40, trying to lubricate any metalic part underneath the chair that was visible in naked eye. Now my headrest is squeeking. Damn, quality has gone down the drain since my first Octavia back in 2002.

Mine squeaked and really pee'd me off for a while.

I put it down to the lowest setting and adjusted the back a few times and now its stopped

Slightly off the topic but has anyone noticed "backrest slippage"?

To explain, self and wife sort of share driving at random so when I get in the passenger seat, not having sat there for sometime,it seems more often than not I feel the backrest is too reclined so I give the adjustment wheel a forward tweek...never in the other direction.

I've tried to brace all of my weight against the backrest to see if I can get it to slip but nothing seems to happen.

When the wife sits is in the passenger seat and me driving she doesn't touch any adjustments.

Weird,all my imagination?

well i did loads of adjusting whilst waiting for the kids but its no better, what i did find was at a higher point it made a noise from both sides rather than just my right :/

it doesnt appear to be from the base, more like the side wing if you know what i mean but hey ho its prolly a quirk of the car ;)

Don't know about squeaky seat, we do have a soft squeak on the dash around the clocks section and when u wiggle it the whole things squeaks......with all the little things I'm picking up on at the moment I'm putting down as character because if I don't it's just going to get on my tits.......overall the car is great and we are happy it's just that I was hoping for a better bolted together car overall than the 12 plate fiesta zetec it replaces.....but to be honest it's not... :( shame really

Sixty7 your not having a good experience with your skoda , no they're not as well put together as they used to,be ? That's down to the cars being much more acceptable and people buying skodas more so they have to speed up the build time , so this may be the issue but definately they rattle far more than they used to , saying that tho I'm driving a golf and that has squeaks so its just sign of the times , I've gone around with torx and tried to tighten as much as possible , you'd be amazed how many screws aren't as tight as they should be

Sometimes loosening off a tight screw a little helps too.
