Any Creo Parametric CAD users out there? bolt hole question

Featured Replies

This is driving me nuts.

Playing around with some 3D CAD having just "upgraded" from using Sketchup :)

Looking at Creo Parametric at the moment, and one thing which is doing me head in is the "Hole" feature.

I want to add a hole for an M3 flat / countersunk bolt.

I can get it doing the countersunk bit, however, the actual shaft diameter it shows is 2.5. Now I thought that the 2.5mm would be the minimum diameter for a thread, not the clearance diameter needed for the thread of a bolt to pass through unrestricted, which, as I understand it, should be 3mm!

So does it mean that although it displays 2.5, in reality, it's 3 or is the diameter really 2.5?

Sorted. It was creating a "drilled" hole. Selecting the "clearance" hole icon enlarges the diameter so the thread clears it cleanly :)
