1.9 TDI 4x4 Alignment

Featured Replies

Planning on having the 4x4 "Aligned" once it has had some suspension work and new tyres.

Does anyone know if the geometry values are the same as for the 2wd models?

Different if you have the rough road package

The rear suspension is obviously completely different so may not Bethe same. Anyone with a hunter rig should know what they are. It will be interesting to see if it makes any difference, I have been thinking about getting mine checked.

I certainly got asked when I had mine done whether it had the rough road package or not, so I assume it makes a difference

If I get a chance tonight I will scan the results sheet from mine, you might be able to glean something from that, my rear wheels were actually visually toed out before I had it done, was wearing the rear tyres faster than the front. 6 months on I an considering getting it done again as I think the outside shoulders of the front tyres are starting tpo wear a bit quicker than they should but I'm not sure if this is just down to the winter tyres.

Try telephoning (or emailing) Tony Bones at Wheels InMotion - he is very experienced and always very helpful.  I plan to get my car's alignment checked (a non-Scout 4x4 Octavia estate) when I've had some new front dampers fitted and the front suspenison re-built with new bushes.  I plan to go to WIM even though it is a long way from where I live.

Thanks for the input guys. It sounds like provided they make sure that the rough road package values are selected then all should be ok. I just want to make sure it gets done right. I know of a place on align my car that apparently set up a Z4 with X3 alignment values so won't be going there!

My rear tyres are wearing perfectly but its the fronts that are both wearing on the inside edge. I have a knock from the front suspension on the near side and have already replaced the drop links to no avail so I need to get this sorted 1st.

I'm guessing the front wheels are both a little toe out to create the wear I am seeing but we will see.

The PR (option code) number for rough-road design (rough road suspension) is 2UB.  This will be on the vehicle data sticker inside the front cover of your car's Service Schedule and on a similar sticker on the boot floor under the mat.
