Featured Replies

Anyone clued up on octavia vrs mk1 s. Got problem with maf sensor. Need a little help or advice please. Seems to run ok for a day then start massive judder on higher revs or hesitates under 2000 revs. Can anyone read fault codes for me

Just unplug the MAF, & if it runs better unplugged your MAF is goosed.

I have had 3 fitted and ok for a day then back to normal again :-(

BTW the only way to really test the MAF is to log it in VCDS.

You can't rely totally on fault codes being stored. The MAF only causes the ECU to throw a code if it shorts to ground or becomes intermittent, so if the ECU is getting a signal from the MAF it won't throw a code even if the signal is incorrect.

If it is a dying MAF replace it with a genuine VAG part only. Buy cheap, buy twice.

You need to get VCDS on it then. Have a look at the VCDS section of the forum there's a member map on there, I'm sure there must be a member near you who can help you out.

Im in bristol but useless :D

Not had it plugged in anywhere yet then bud ?

Absolutely. As I said VAG only.

Are Bosch ones from ecp not Original? Should I try one from skoda garage

Allegedly not. :x

TPS or main dealer.

Not got an oiled filter killing them?  Although I wouldn't expect it to happen that quickly.

No standard filter. Been replaced week ago

Has to be maf if car drIves perfectly with it disconnected doesn't it?

Yes - perhaps you're not getting right MAF?  It helps vaguely I am passing M5 on Tuesday REAL late.  Happy to stop at Gordano or Cribbs/similar and run a scan on my VCDS,.

Eurocarparts only list one maf. Many thanks for offer but start work 4am Mon to Sat so late is out unfortunately :-).... Perhaps I will order by reg at local seat/skoda garage

99% of the time yes, but I'm sure there was a member on here recently who's car ran fine with the MAF unplugged, but IIRC it turned out to be the cam sensor that was at fault, & not the MAF. Never heard of that before though.
