SCOUT GEARSHIFT

Featured Replies

Hi

Not long purchased a 2010 Skoda Scout TDI with 50k on clock. It has been fully serviced and haldex oil replaced, but I feel the gearshift is clunky and when cold seems to difficult to get in 1st/reverse and snatches at 2nd.

I have seen suggestions on here about changing oil on gearbox on older cars, but mine only has 50k on clock.

And advise please?

Hmmm... my 1st gear can be a bit notchy when the weather is cold. I asked the dealership to have a look at it and they lubricated the linkages (suspect actually blasted in a bit of WD40) and its been noticeably better, although the weather's not been cold enough to really tell. I guess my point is that it is more likely to be the gear change linkages than the box itself.

I've had about same a few times, and changed the gearbox oil last year. Smooth as a butter now.

Same as above, my Scout only had 40,000 miles on it when I had the gearbox oil replaced, much better, especially in the winter before the oil warms up.

Might get the gearbox oilchanged on big cambelt/waterpump service. And try lubricating linkages in the meantime.
