Actuator

Featured Replies

Anyone from west yorkshire on here that knows how to set the actuator on my hybrid turbo ?

Or anyone know of place that can set it ? and what kind of price im looking at for it doing

What exactly do you mean? Setting the pre-load on the pushrod?

yes adjusting the pushrod i fitted it yesterday and there was no boost whatsoever but the pushrod on the hybrid is shorter than on the kkk i took off.

i tried adjusting it fully out and i was getting boost intermitently but lots of smoke

i messed about trying it at different lenghts and its boosting better but going into limp mode

i decided to leave it as i dont use the car through the week and get it set up properly

I asked this question on here a few weeks ago and got no replies so I spoke to a turbo specialist and got some very concise advice from them..

basically you retract the vnt mechanism fully so the lever closest to the actuator, then wind the outer nut in by hand till it just touches the lever, then you turn the nut 2 full revolutions with a spanner, then do the other nut up the other side to lock it in position.

ill try that this weekend

Thank you

I can't remember what the preset pressure of the actuator is on the vnt turbos off the top of my head, but you should be able to achieve this amount if pressure when the n75 is unplugged I. Sure somebody on here will know this.

the important thing here is that if the preload is set high it won't give you any more boost, you will jut get a boost deviation fault code pop up into limo mode because of a mis match in requested vs actual boost, it's not like the old day of playing with r5's and cosworths where you could sneak a few extra psi by forcing the wastegate to stay closed longer.

i was getting fault codes 17964 regarding the charge pressure

thanks for pointing me in the correct direction ill give it another go this weekend

if it comes to it ill just stick the kkk back on

Iirc the actuator is for the duty cycle and usually needs setting between 70/75% at 4k revs, you will need to do some logs on vcds to get it adjusted properly, you'll probably need to adjust your stop screw aswell, talk to faboka on here he knows his stuff! :) please correct me if I'm wrong
